The Downside

There are obvious benefits of styling this blog as the girls’ baby books.  I get to share with family and friends, there is some security in having it online if something happened to our files, I can include videos, I can maintain one record instead of two, etc.

However.

There is definitely a downside to making all of this public.  Obviously, our adoring fans are probably tempted to stalk us because of our fascinating lives of naps and snacks.  But the real downside I’m referring to is the need to walk that fine line between recording things we want to remember, and yet not posting TOO many things that might be embarrassing for one or more of us.

Like when I forgot about Emma at that birthday party when she was just a couple of weeks old.

Like whether I can post the photos of Lily dying Easter eggs, because I wasn’t thinking and she was dressed in just a t-shirt and undies (because I didn’t want her to get the dye on her shorts).

Like posting publicly that my daughter still drops f-bombs regularly when talking about sucking her thumb.  The other day, I told her that she shouldn’t suck it because it wasn’t nap time and she responded, “I just want to **** it all day!”

Like what this picture is about:

Like how I feel the need to explain that my house really isn’t ALWAYS an absolute toy-strewn disaster as it looks in photos/videos.  It’s just quite OFTEN that way.

Like how Lily does voices for certain things and how they don’t want to come out and that’s all I’m saying about that.

Like how her hair is soaking wet after every nap.

Like what this picture is all about (“Daddy…we’re going to have to cut you!  It’s okay…it’ll be quick!”):

Like her aversion to discussion of marriage, jobs, and growing up. {Post on that to follow in a few minutes, though.}

So there you have it – some semi-vague references to things that I’m semi-comfortable revealing in a way that will hopefully jog my memory one day.

Love,

Yes, we’re also wondering if we can keep this posting streak up
