The Bear, 2nd Edition

You may recall that Lily had a pink bear rug that I photographed her on every month for her first year of life:

1 Month[2]

Well, my mom got Emma her own rug, so I’m planning on doing the same thing for her.  Note that Emma’s rug is just a tad bit smaller, so you can’t compare directly.

Here is Emma on December 3rd:

0 Months

I didn’t time this picture very well, and she was ready for a nap and not a happy camper.  I then forgot to retake it when she was rested, so I just picked the picture with the most classic crying face instead of a mild fussy face – look at that wail!

And here is Emma at one month – much happier!

Pictures

Just some pictures…some of them you’ll see again in posts with actual content, but just wanted to upload some recent pictures (mostly from Emma’s first week since I haven’t had time to sort yet).

Comparisons

Just wanted to put up a few pictures of Lily at Emma’s age so you guys can compare.  Here is Lily at about 1 month old.

And in case you think you’ve stumbled onto the wrong blog, here she is at 1 year – no, that hair did not stick around!

Hmmm…looking at that makes me nervous, but Emma clearly has WAY more hair, and I would be really surprised if she loses it ALL.  Perhaps I shouldn’t go overboard with the hairbows just yet, though, huh?

In any case, here is Emma from earlier today.

The poor dear is still VERY cross-eyed a lot of the time.

Roll Out

For Christmas 2010, Lily received two tricycles.  My mom gave her a Hello Kitty one that was a great beginner tricycle with a retainer bar (to keep her from toppling off) and a parent steering/pushing handle (to save our back since she couldn’t pedal by herself).  She loved being pushed up and down the street in it, and got used to the motion of her feet going in a pedaling motion without actually having to pedal to propel the bike since a parent was pushing from behind.  This is the tricycle that we used for the first half of 2011, and she really enjoyed riding on it.  Her other tricycle was an Ariel (Little Mermaid) tricycle that she was a bit too short for when she first got it.  It did not have a retainer bar or parent pushing handle, so it was a great second step for her after she outgrew her Hello Kitty trike.  I’ll admit that over the past few months of pregnancy (and during the 1 million degree days of summer), we didn’t get in as much bike riding as we should have, so imagine my surprise when Michael took Lily outside today (December 31st) to ride her tricycle for the first time in a couple of months, and she could suddenly ride it all by herself!  Michael spent a short time helping her get the hang of steering, and then she was off like a shot!

Go, Lily, go!
