Interview with a Toddler

A friend of mine interviews her children at each birthday (starting at age 3), and records their responses. 

Because I enjoy comedy, I decided to try interviewing Lily on her 2nd birthday back in March.  Below are her responses to my questions, with my notes in italics to record for posterity what her usual preferences are.

1.  What is your favorite color?

Answer: Blue

My thoughts: we’re off to a good start!  She typically loves pink and blue, so it seems like she might be able to do this!

2.  What is your favorite animal?

Cheetah

Are you kidding me?  I have no idea where this came from.  More consistently, it’s cats of the domestic variety.

3.  What is your favorite song: 

Yo Gabba Gabba song

This is a reasonable answer…she likes a lot of YGG songs as well as the theme song.  Most often, she sings the ABC song or Old McDonald in her bed lately.  She also makes me listen to B-I-N-G-O repeatedly in the car.

4. What is your favorite book?

The cat book

She was referring to a library book “There Are Cats in this Book,” which we had just read that morning.  Considering we had renewed it 3 times, she really does love this book.

5.  What is your favorite movie?

No response.

Definitely the Toy Story series.

6.  What is your favorite TV show?

Yes.  I am all done.

7.  What is your favorite thing to eat?

I am all done, Mommy.

Probably cheese and chocolate.

8.  What is your favorite restaurant?

I want to get down.

9.  What is your favorite store?

Mom, you didn’t get this far in the questions because I was SO over your interview.

Other than the toy store, she loves visiting Miss Mary who sells fish at Publix, and getting a chocolate chip cookie from the bakery; she also loves listening for forklifts at Sam’s or Costco.

10.  What is your favorite toy?

Characters of any kind, but especially her Yo Gabba Gabba figures.

11. Who is your best friend?

Let’s pretend she’d say Mommy and Daddy!

12.  What is your favorite thing to do?

PLAY TALK!!!!

13.  What do you want to be when you grow up?

I’m sure a professional “talker.”
