Aruba, Jamaica, no, Lil, we won’t take-ya

Greetings and salutations, fair blog readers!

I hope you are all doing well!  I know I have been behind a bit these days, but allow me to present a semi-legitimate excuse that will cover me for the past couple of weeks at least.

Over the span of 13 days, we went to Columbia, then ARUBA, back to Columbia, home for fewer than 24 hours, and then to Alabama before finally getting back home on Labor Day.  Wow.  I’m tired just WRITING about it.

Actually, I think I’m probably tired just because of it.

Either way…I’m tired!

But, man, did we have fun!  Two weeks ago, Michael and I went on our first REAL (i.e. more than 1 night) trip without the Lil-ster.  A 6-day trip to ARUBA!  Woo-hoo!

Ummm…just now realizing I still haven’t uploaded pictures to share with you.

Blog post appears to be losing steam.

Ummm…

See you next month!

Just kidding.  I will go upload pictures right now while I regale you with stories of how Lily did with Michael’s parents who were WONDERFUL to agree to babysit our lovable little monster so we could get away to a world where alarm clocks don’t sound like this:

“Mama…mama…mama…up…up…up…Dada?…Dada?…hi…hi…up…book…mama…ri-ri (ride)…trau trau (trolley)…woah woah…hi…peek…peek…mama…Mama…MaMa…MAMA…UP!”

Oh, and you could also SET the alarm clock.

Or, more importantly, NOT set the alarm clock.

Bliss!

Oh, and the pina coladas and the turquoise waters were also pretty nice.

AND not having to take applesauce, miniature horses complete with their miniature jockeys, wipes, diapers, bibs, placemats, goldfish, trains, crayons, stickers, sun block, a miniature pink hat, and 40 pounds of other baby stuff in my purse. That was pretty awesome, too.

Don’t get me wrong…I missed her a bunch, and cried like a baby the night before we left (I’m not ashamed, but I AM a loser.  I’m aware.  Let’s move on.) but Michael and I were both able to relax once we got there, and Lily apparently never batted an eye about our leaving.  I’m pretty sure the fact that she got to go to the zoo not once, but THREE times during those 6 days may have had something to do with it.  Michael’s parents kept her busy, and they TELL us that she was an angel.

Not that she didn’t have her moments.

Like her disagreement with her Mimi about whether riding a carousel 57 times the same day is absolutely necessary to her continued well being.

I should tell you that I didn’t enjoy hearing that someone OTHER THAN ME had to deal with one of her oh-so-embarrassing “oh-my-goodness-I-can’t-believe-this-is-happening-to-me-and-my-world-is-ending-so-I’ll-cry-and-scream-and-stomp-my-precious-little-feet” tantrums.

I should.

Ahem.

Moving on…

:-)

Seriously, though, we are SOOOOOOOOOOO thankful to have had this time to ourselves, and we sincerely hope that the Bogles had as good of a time as they said they did, and that they got to make some wonderful memories with their granddaughter who absolutely ADORES them.

So, ummm, did I successfully distract you from the fact that I also don’t have pictures of Lily’s time at the Bogles' while we were gone?  I didn’t get a chance to download those yet either, and they are in Columbia.  Maybe I should invite Mimi and Papa to write a special guest post for the blog of their time with Lily.  What do you think?

I would guess that I have successfully driven away about 95% of my readers (hmm…not that I have 20 readers…let’s say 88.5%) with the sheer quantity of letters in this post, but for any stragglers, I did get some Aruba pictures uploaded just now (but, dang it, Lily just woke up so this will be fast):

Isn’t he cute?  :-)  I think I’ll keep him.

Rats…I also just realized that half my pictures are still on my other camera.

Hmmm…maybe I’m still on island time?

I’ll get my act together eventually.

Maybe.

I mean I don’t TOTALLY promise that, but I’ll try.

Harder than I usually do.

Maybe.

Love,

We missed you, too!
