No, ma’am!

In exciting news, Lily sort of combined 2 words for the first time on June 5th (14 months).

In somewhat embarrassing news, her first 2-word combo was, “no, ma’am.”

Sigh.

Think she maybe hears that one too much?

At least we’re polite in constantly thwarting her heart’s desires.

Like with most of Lily’s words at this point, she isn’t really pronouncing the end of the word, but we know how she says “no,” and this was definitely her adding on a “ma’am” to the end.  She had been doing it before the video, and you can hear it somewhere around 45 seconds.

In even more embarrassing news, HOLY COW MY HOUSE IS A DISASTER IN THAT VIDEO!

I do feel the need to qualify that we don’t have a playroom, nor do we entertain often, so we have given up keeping the toys out of our family room.  Lily’s room is upstairs, and we spend most of the day downstairs, so as I have said before, Fisher Price is our home decorator.  By the end of each day, the room is a frightening mish mash of balls, babies, and lots of things that jingle and jangle.  Throw in about 100 yards of cords that Michael had used to hook up the computer to the TV to watch a baseball game the day of the video, and it’s a chaotic mess.  Sorry if I have offended your delicate sensibilities.  :-)  It will happen again.

I’m sure this doesn’t make it any better (and, in fact, probably confirms your suspicions about the kiddie chaos), but we do clean it up each night.  I actually JUST took this picture without doing any cleaning (note the time on the cable box!) because I was so embarrassed about the video.

Lily has even started “helping,” which takes a little longer.  She usually ends up finding a new toy to play with while putting things away, but she’s getting better.  :-)

So, in closing…um…where was I?  Oh yeah – go, Lily, for trying to combine words!
