As Lily is now a full-blown toddler, toddling here and there and everywhere, there are bound to be accidents. In mid-May, Lily did have her worst tumble yet, and really gave herself quite the boo boo. I’ll start off with these pictures from the day after to reassure you that she didn’t let it keep her down.

This is her “oops!” expression. For some reason, when you say “oops!”, she tilts her head over to side. We can’t figure out why, but it’s cute!

So, to back up a day, Lily and I were hosting some of her sweet baby friends and their Mamas for a playdate.

And here’s a blurry picture of Lily. Why do I like this picture? Well, note the lack of an unsightly head wound. That’s about to change.
I can’t tell you exactly what happened. She had started walking around a lot with her hands behind her back, looking like she was constantly inspecting things. It was very official looking, and very cute, but clearly dangerous because when she trips, she can’t get her arms around her body fast enough to help catch herself. So she was toddling around on the cement patio, and I think she got tangled up with another kid, and skidded headfirst on the patio. You could feel her head crack on the slab, and scared the snot out of me. She wailed for a few minutes, but really did seem okay after she calmed down.
This was the unfortunate result:
Ouch! In this picture, she is actually sad because we were having a disagreement about dinner, but it does sum up how Mommy still felt about the little injury. Poor baby. :-(
A little bandaid-ing helped tone it down a bit…
But then…
…she started to get really upset again!
See here signing “all done?”
It was actually the fault of this musical butterfly…
I turned it on, and she did not care for at all, so this cry was entirely unrelated to the head injury. Don’t you feel better?
She really ended up being okay.
It was a painful event for her, and a scarier event for me.
Can I PLEASE just wrap her in bubble wrap for a few years?!?!?
