Oh no she didn’t

Just a quick post (hahaha!…we’ll see if I can really pull that off).  Lily entertained us during her dinner, and I thought I’d share (it’s the last video).  It’s long and is probably not that amusing to non-first-degree relatives, so it won’t hurt my feelings if you don’t stick around.  :-)  By way of background, you should just know that while Lily ate almost anything when we were feeding her purees, it’s a little more difficult to get her to eat what WE think she should now that she is eating mostly finger foods.  She does eat a lot of foods pretty well, but LOVES sweet potatoes, bananas, peas, grapes, cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese, and dear Lord does this baby love sour cream.

Yes, we are aware that sour cream is more of a condiment than an entree, but YOU tell that to Lily when you’re in the middle of a Mexican restaurant and trying to keep her sitting still long enough to finish your meal!

Like most kids, vegetables are trickiest to convince her to eat (although she loves peas).  The downside of her being able to communicate so well is that she will request that we get her yogurt (“ooooo” or “baby” indicates yogurt), which she does quite often.  When she is presented with foods she doesn’t want to eat, she will try to outwait us until we bring out “the good stuff.”  As much as she loves all fruit purees, she sometimes will refuse cut up fruit (except banana – she will gladly eat a whole banana without hesitation) even though she usually likes them once we convince her to try them.  Sometimes, though, Lily is much more interested in feeding US her food than in eating it herself.  We sometimes indulge her because 1) it tends to lead to her eating more food because we alternate bites, and 2) it’s just too sweet to refuse (even though you basically have to slurp the slimy food off of her sticky little hand because she isn’t THAT dexterous).  Tonight, she learned the thrill of the fake-out.

What a stinker.
