Easter

Although this is Lily’s second Easter, Lily was clearly much more into the Easter celebrating this go ‘round than she was at this time last year.

See?

Bunny-themed pajamas were about all our sleep-deprived brains could manage.

As we’ve already covered, Lily has been practicing her egg-hunting skills in preparation for the big weekend.  On Friday, she got to go head-to-head with some of her best buddies from her baby playgroup.

Before I get down to the nitty-gritty of this intense hunt, I’ll take a second to explain how it is that a 1-year-old of a stay-at-home mom has even made friends.  Last summer, we were inspired by our friend Whitney, who was taking her daughter, Virginia, to their library in Charlotte for free baby classes with music, bubbles, etc.  It sounded like a great idea, so I checked with our library and found that they also offer several free programs every week.  We started going when Lily was about 4 months old, and we usually go to two programs per week (Mother Goose on the Loose and Bouncing Babies).  This has been an invaluable resource for us, and I encourage all my mom-friends to check it out.  We both love getting out of the house, and it has helped me to meet lots of other stay-at-home moms in the area.  We have a group of about 7 moms, and we get together at least once a week outside of the library to have a playdate or some other outing.  LOVE IT!  They are so much fun, and it is just awesome to watch all of our kids grow and develop their little personalities together.

So, back to Easter weekend.

On Good Friday, I invited our baby playgroup over to the house to have an Easter egg hunt in the yard.  We started by having the babies decorate bags to put their eggs in.

It was similar to what we had done at our neighborhood egg hunt, but with no permanent markers this time!

After the bags were completed, Lily herded her friend Tyler behind the kitchen trashcan and then pinned him in with a shopping cart that she kept ramming into him.

Following this, we then headed outside for the big hunt.

Victoria debates taking a break from the hunt in order to eat the treats inside the eggs.  Did she hit the jackpot?  Was it a measly cheerio, or did she get the yogurt melt?

Fortunately, although Lily (and every other 1-year-old) thinks that absolutely everything in this world is hers, they all had a great time and shared very nicely with each other.  What fun!

Stay tuned for the rest of the Easter posts.

I’m being paged.
