Here is a snippet from an actual “conversation” with Lily during storytime tonight.

Lily: Ah ah ah ah.
[Translation: Look, parents, there is a monkey on this page!]
Lily: No, no.
[Translation: No, Daddy – stop holding that flap open – I am done with this monkey.]
Lily: Mo, mo.
[Translation: More pages, Daddy. Turn the page already. I am seriously over this monkey.]
Michael: (turning the page and then reading) “Baby can’t find hooting owl. Where is it?”
Lily: Hoo, hoo.
[Translation: My stars! It’s an owl! An owl says, “Hoot, hoot,” does it not, parents?]
[Lily leans toward book and Michael.]
Michael: Oh, are you going to give me a kiss?
[Lily kisses Michael then headbutts the owl in the book. Michael turns the page.]
Michael: (reading) “Baby can’t find rattley snake. Where is it?”
Lily: (scrunches up her nose and sniffs repeatedly)
[Translation: Ummm…I believe I’m doing my rattlesnake impression?]

Isn’t she just darling? :-)
She’s getting to be a bit bossy, though, with her newfound language skills. She’s constantly demanding "more” or “milk” or just telling us “no no.”
I didn’t make it to the rest of the Easter posts tonight, but I did take a few pictures yesterday and today that I can post quickly. The shirts she’s wearing were made by Michael’s mom who has just learned how to appliqué – yay for us! :-)
Yesterday, she wasn’t in the mood to pose.

Today, we did a little better!

And these were just funny.

Lily also played with her Elmo Live she got for Christmas. She really likes this thing. She can’t really activate any of the buttons on it, so if I’m not helping her play with it, she usually just knocks it over because then it will activate to ask for help in standing back up. She thinks that’s quite funny, and will usually rescue poor Elmo.
And then she knocks him right back over.
And then picks him back up.
She is very polite, though. She always says, “bye bye” when he says “see you later” right before he turns himself off. Sweet girl.
And then she carries him around by the eyeball.
Maybe we’ll say sweet-ish girl.
It does seem like she should lose some points for the eyeball-carrying.

Yesterday, we tried to draw on the sidewalk with chalk that Lily got for Easter from Mimi and Papa. She tried to focus on the task at hand.
But it was just so dang hard because the neighbor was mowing his lawn.
Wow.
She just couldn’t…
She wasn’t scared or anything…just VERY curious. She did scribble a bit (that’s the part between her feet), but when she realized the chalk was egg-shaped (which is almost ball-shaped), I think you can guess what she decided to do.
Yep, we played a rousing game of “fetch-the-sidewalk-chalk” that ended when she started making them roll down the driveway and into the street.
Mental note: sidewalk chalk is for level surfaces.
