Now where were we?

Oh, dear.  I am quite behind, aren’t I?  As my loyal reader, Megan, has patiently reminded me, this blog is woefully out of date.  We have been a little busy around here, as we approach Lily’s 6-month birthday.  Wow.  It is so hard to believe that she is almost 1/2 a year old.  Aren’t I supposed to know what I’m doing by now?  LOL

I mean we’re in the swing of things, for sure, but I remember when she was just born and everything seemed so new.  Well let me tell you, folks, it still does!  It’s weird how when you have a newborn, you meet the parents of a 6-month old, and it seems so removed from where you are at the time.

Your baby is a sweet little blob of person, and their baby is cooing and smiling and laughing and sitting and eating REAL food (well, REAL mush, at least).

You are bleary eyed, unshowered, and somewhat shell-shocked.  They seem to be mostly spit-up free, and actually make plans to leave the house without spending two hours gearing up for the big adventure.

You still aren’t sure if you are fastening diapers tight enough, and they are able to juggle the baby on one hip while talking on the phone and doing chores.

It just seems like it’s worlds away at the time.  Like it’s some discrete change that happens from being the clueless but eager parent of a new baby to being the veteran parent of a 1/2 year old.

But it doesn’t work like that, does it?  We may be more “veteran,” but all those questions about sleep and diapering have given way to questions about solid foods and whether or not to force your sweet, but very vocal, daughter to do tummy time when she just…does…NOT…want…to…do…it.  Time slides on by, and you blink and find out that now YOU are the parent of that 6-month old and your friend is the parent of today’s newborn.  I know I’ll blink again, and she’ll be a year old…okay…I’m seriously getting a little teary right now.  Need something to lighten the mood…

21 Weeks

Ahh…that’ll do it!

So as much as we parents would like to stop time for a little while, no can do.  So I do what I can, and stop time for 1/80th of a second at a time, and endlessly harass little Lily with my camera.  She’s still a good sport about it, so I’ll take advantage when I can.  As is my typical style, I’ll probably barrage you with tons of overdue posts and photos in the next day or two.

So enjoy…I know we are!

Move aside, Seinfeld!

Because I am clearly the most hilarious person ever.  You know, among 20-week old babies.  Who are named Lily.  And live in my house.

Seriously, though, she’s really giving me a big head about my comedy genius.  She just can’t get enough!  So without further ado, here are three videos for you.  Number 2 is my favorite, I think.

So what do you think…are the comedy clubs ready for my “WOOOOOO” caterpillar and my “PEEKA PEEKA PEEKA” tickle?

In other news, Lily has a brand new trick herself.  For a while now, she has been able to roll from her back to her tummy, but she really doesn’t do it that often.  For the past two days, however, she has been rolling over onto her tummy while in her crib.

Which means she is now trying to do tummy time in her crib.

Which, if you recall, she is not fond of.

Shoot.

So Pretty Little Miss has been summoning her adoring parents to come and “rescue” her about 30 minutes into her naps (and 15 minutes after being put into bed…so far…stay tuned, I’m sure).  I sure hope this cute little “trick” will be short-lived!
