You Gotta Roll With It, Baby

Lily does not like tummy time.  I’m not going to lie.  She really should be doing up to 30 minutes or so a day at this point (I think), but I’m lucky to get 4 minutes at a time out of her before she makes it very clear that she…has…had…enough.  I would think, then, that she’d be very motivated to learn to roll from her tummy to her back to escape the dreaded torture, but she really hasn’t figured that out yet.  Unless she has some fancy method she’s perfecting that involves lifting all of her limbs up in the air simultaneously and acting like some sort of beached turtle.  I don’t have a good picture of it, but rest assured it looks something like this (but she’s flailing around on her tummy as opposed to her back).

Amazingly, her method has failed to yield the desired results.

She has rolled over a few times, although this appeared to be quite by accident.  Here’s a video from May 22nd.  Waiting for a baby with no muscle control to accidentally roll over is about exciting as you’d expect, so feel free to skip ahead to the big finale on this video.

On Tuesday, June 30th, however, she demonstrated that she can now roll from her back to her tummy.  She did this several times in a row, and seemed quite pleased with herself.  That is, of course, until she realized that she was on her tummy.  Doing tummy time.  Aw, shucks.
